I’m going to argue about some idealism, in a simplistic way.
On one side we have the libertarian. Fighting for a world of absolute freedom and self-responsibility. Success is reacheable and limitless when there’s no boundary prohibiting it. Human intelligence is given the highest honour. Open market produces competition. A large number of competitors results for better service and high quality products at a cheaper price. Everything seems to look perfect, isn’t it?
What about the right for same-sex orientation? What about fornication and prostitution? What about speaking freely and abuse one culture’s sensitivity? What about depriving labours from better pay? Oh….now I know, all libertarians are angels and they forgot that human beings have this ‘bad’ side in them called DESIRE.
On the other side, we have the communist. Fighting for the nation’s best interest. One government that could offer equal service for everyone. It is the government that knows what’s best for their people and what’s not. The people work hard, and they get loads of freebies in return. The government will protect them. The government will pay everything for them. Now this looks so much like a paternal institution, which is good, no?
What about freedom of expression? What about rewarding hardworking people to what they’ve laboured? What about providing the people better service from competent and credible outsiders? Is there any room for goodness from outside to come in? Oh…..maybe they think the government they choose is brilliant enough to take care of them. They wouldn’t abuse their power towards their obedient people. Or, could they?
We need a middle way. A rather radical middle way. An other way.
There is good in liberalism. There is also good in communism, socialism, capitalism, secularism, humanism, feminism, no doubt. And these goodness are for the individual, for the family, for the society and for the nation. Each of these idealism has good values within it, so why commit only to one specific value?
There is an ideology, an other ideology, that paves way for good to all human beings. It provide guidelines in ensuring and upholding one’s faith, life, dignity, generation and wealth. And that ideology is Islam.
It is now clear that Islam is the middle way of all the ideologies. So, why not Islam? Why choose to struggle for one specific ideology, when you can have one that combines everything all together?
Why a slice when you can have the whole cake?
